Featured on ABC Sunday Arts program in July 08, American photographer, Maggie Diaz arrived in Melbourne on a one-way ticket in 1961. An award winning photographer in Chicago, Diaz established herself as one of Melbourne’s leading photographers of the 1960s. From haunting images of Chicago’s housing projects in the 1950s to Melbourne’s ‘battlers” in the 1990s, Diaz used her flair for available light to capture the essence of these two cities.

Now 84, Maggie was well known for her studio in Martin Street, Gardenvale, where she specialised in actors portraits. Having the exhibition at Kingston Arts centre is a great opportunity for Maggie to connect with clients and friends from the 1970s – 1990s!
