DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION – Sunday 11pm (EDT), 22 March 2009

Head on Foundation invites photographers to submit images to the 2009 photographic portrait competition.

Prizes will be awarded for the best 3 images. The selection of images will be done anonymously based on the power of the photograph rather than the celebrity of the subject or photographer. Further prizes will be awarded to images selected for ‘The Critic’s Prize’ and for ‘People’s Choice’.

Finalists’ work will be selected by Magnum photographer Trent Parke, Award winning Photographer Narelle Autio, Good Weekend picture editor Judith Love and Head On curator Moshe Rosenzveig. The ‘Critic’s Prize’ will be selected by the Sydney Morning Herald photography critic Robert McFarlane.

Total value of prizes is approximately $37,000.

Our studio requires an experienced photographer who loves to create work which sets a new standard in excellence to join our dynamic team.

You must be willing to be trained in Starshots unique approach to modern studio photography, have experience in keeping to deadlines & working in a team environment.

High creativity & energy, a friendly outgoing nature & previous experience and/or tertiary qualifications in studio photography are all essential.

This is a part time retail position so your role will include:

This Wednesday the 5th of March group 5&6 will meet in studio 2 at 9.30 for group meeting. At 10.30 fees are to be paid at the bursars office, following this will be Introduction to Colour at 11.00 am approximately.

THEN…… at 2.00pm we will be meeting at, ‘TRUST’ Chris Koller’s exhibition 137 Flinders Lane , upstairs (enter via Oliver lane) between Russell and Exhibition Sts.

“Koller’s works exhale fresh vigour and energy back into the photographic portrait, moving beyond the traditional well-lit description of the sitter’s features. The subjects are either well-known figures in the Melbourne culture circuit or emerging practitioners for divergent backgrounds including the visual arts, craft, film, dance and music. Individuals represented include Elizabth Presa, Janina Green, Brendan Lee, Andy Mac, Morry Schwartz and Meredith Turnbull, to mention but a few.”

Part time image retoucher / graphic designer (flexible hours) – Elite Studios

Elite Studios established for over 50 years, based on the fringe of the city in East Melbourne, comprises a young & energetic photographic team. We’re currently seeking a enthusiastic, bright & bubbly person to fill part time role predominantly photo retouching but also general studio duties with the view to training a suitable person to assist, and take photographs particularly weddings.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of digital imaging particularly Photoshop CS2 & basic photo retouching skills. We are a busy studio so the so the ability to work diligently & efficiently is a must. Availability to work on weekends is essential.
